client; barclays bank zimbabwe ltd.
project cost estimate: $1,9 million
description: banking hall, general enquiries hall, private and corporate suites on ground floor; and administrative offices on mezzanine floor.
interpretation of brief: the bank intended to develop freestanding buildings for their branches in the major towns and neighbourhoods of cities across the country. developing a prototype branch would ensure progressive fine-tuning of the design as experience and solutions from the previous branches commissioned would be used on future branches. the client’s brief was based on an integrated approach to banking with services flowing smoothly within the spaces. this was also a good chance at re-branding the bank, which was now being seen as this old monolithic institution.
